The 20,780 square-foot, full-service Jim and Eleanor Randall Dining Commons is the heart and hub of Chapman University’s new Sandhu Residence and Conference Center. The Randall Dining Commons has the feel of a vibrant, dynamic, upscale restaurant that features table seating and unique curtained booths, as well as a dining terrace overlooking a pedestrian mall. A refreshing, unique departure from the typical college food service, the Randall Dining Commons offers fresh, healthy, restaurant quality food that is conveniently prepared to order. The new dining commons serves all students who live in the residence halls through the University meal plan, and offers unique specials to faculty, staff, and guests of the University.
The facility incorporates state-of-the-art kitchens — creating a wide spectrum of food offerings — that serve as the main food preparation area for all of Chapman University. Features include a pizza station, wood-fire grill, sushi station, sandwich and salad bar, and a chef’s station for special orders. Located on the first floor of the Sandhu Center, the Randall Dining Commons has become the focus of activity and gathering on campus, where students talk about what’s going on in their lives, where they open up to the life of the mind and consider new ideas in lively and engaging conversation. In addition, Chapman University President Jim Doti hosts a new TV cooking show from the Randall Dining Commons’ euro-style chef’s kitchen; it airs weekly on the OC Channel.
