The Randall Internship Program at Seaver College provides significant experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom to 100 undergraduate students each academic year. Internship opportunities are available throughout Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Calabasas, Malibu, and Ventura County depending upon the company’s location. Participating employers include Warner Center Music, NBC Universal, UBS Financial, Four Seasons Los Angeles, and the Malibu Boys and Girls Club. Additionally, last year’s program expanded to include a summer internship at Cooper Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This invaluable opportunity enables two pre-med students to complete an internship in the hospital’s Emergency Room while conducting research with a medical doctor.
Receiving academic credit for internships ranging from 10-15 hours per week, participating students are required to enroll in an internship seminar course. Weekly assignments and discussions about career development enhance the student experience and promote a sense of professionalism.
Led by longtime Pepperdine professor Dr. Nancy Shatzer, the Randall Program helps students gain the necessary skills and experience for employment following graduation. With the increased importance employers are placing on internship experience, Pepperdine is hoping to increase the number of available internship positions from 100 to 150 in the next couple of years.
The Randall Internship Program is made possible through the generosity of Pepperdine friends Jim and Eleanor Randall. In addition to Pepperdine’s Randall Internship Program, Jim and Eleanor have given generously to the Wave Classic Golf Tournament in support of student scholarships and career preparation programs at Seaver College.
Supporting the University’s mission of preparing students for “lives for purpose, service, and leadership,” the Randall Internship program encourages students to set career goals, develop successful work habits, and work towards fulfilling lifelong dreams.
